"i've made my first run with a rum wash in a pressure cooker still.the still worked good.so my qustion is why did it smell like wine and after the methanol came off
and when i tasted the firstpint after that it went down smooth but burned for some time after.what is going on i'm not sure what to do.
any help would be greatConfused"

Now then, that should make it easier for us to help you.
What do you mean - when the methanol came off?
You said - went down smooth but burned for some time, what was the proof you were swiggin plz tell me your not hittin it right off the worm and wondering why it taste weird.
Hopefully you cut it to a desirable drinkin strength. That will determine the burn for shooor.

As to why it smelled like wine, well describe your wash and how you fermented it, and your stillin technique and maybe that will give some insight
so folks can help you along the way to figgering out what might be an issue.
