Hello all, just got into the hobby about a year ago...and I love it!!!!!! Spent alot of hours reading other people posts to learn some of the do's and dont's and I must say that there is alot of very useful information on the posts. I mostly dale in the neutrals then flavor it, so far i have came up with over 50 different flavors, some really great and others not. Has been a very fun and interesting learning experience.

Not sure where the word dale came into my post...should have been "dabble" in neutrals. I run a sugar wash which is clear and pretty much tasteless..neutral. At that stage one can pretty much flavor it any way one wants.

I do the same. Strip 20 gals of wash and reflux the output. Keep me posted on your flavorings. I usually add a couple of drops of almond extract with cinnamon sticks for color removing the cinnamon after a couple of days.

Have made a rootbeer that alot of people claim tastes like the old time rootbeer barrels...real easy to do, jolly racher green apple, version of hot damn, butterscotch and homemade irish cream added together you get a buttery nipple..lemon drop, iced tea and been working on a carmel, but having hard time to get the rich carmel flavor to carry thru, even lemonade has been pretty good. One thing i have learned is that its best to break down the flavors in warm/hot water to mix better and keep the proof at 60.
