I have tried several whiskey mash receipes and my product always has a yeasty taste. even tried some sugar vodka runs and the same taste. any suggestions on a different brand of yeast? I put the vodka thru a charcoal filter and it was ok , but I don't want to filter the whiskey, I want the corn flavor.

"It may be your process, rather than the yeast -- you might pushing some of that flavor through.
Try starting with a cleaner charge ... cold crash your wash and/or give it more time to clear. Then try reducing your collection rate during your spirit run -- see if that helps.
If you want to use another strain though, try a champagne yeast (EC-1118, Red Star Pasteur Champagne) ... or a tolerant/forgiving wine yeast (Montrachet)."

also try less yeast and a cooler ferment - of course it will take longer to finish but no worries, it's done when it's done.
