seems most 2" reflux coloums use a reduction to 1 1/2" at the first turn and then reduce at the next "L" going to the cooling section.With the cost of copper why not use a 2"x2"x3/4" at top. The quicker reduction would cut cost of a build. Thoughts ?

You can do just that if you want -- it comes down to $$$$ and if you have all the fittings already then go with it.
Vapor will travel no matter what......

Yep "Vapor will travel no matter what " I guess I am thing of whether a smaller pipe from coloum cause a limit of production because of Choking ? My only experience with distilling is a continuous operation still where a hot mother liquor was pumped thru an orifice into a partial vacuum and then cooled thru a condensing coil
