I have a question about my activated carbon . After filtering some spirits I boiled it and set it on a carbon steel cookie sheet to let it dry . When I set out to boil it again to get ready for another filtering it appeared it had rusted to the cookie sheet . I boil the carbon a few times and every time I put water on it there was a rusty color to the water. Have I ruined my carbon ? If I continue to boil it and pour out the water will eventually recover the carbon ? I'm guessing at this point I don't want to filter spirits through it. If anyone has any information would be greatly appreciated.
