I created a Rum Wash which stopped gassing after 6 days, but I was then was pulled away for 4 weeks and could not tend to it. I figure it has probably rotted by now, but thought I'd check with the forum about their experiences.

probably not worth the effort to find out. Try one of the Tried and True recipes you find here that will indeed make a quality product with not much thought on your part. Of course a still that is of a quality that will produce something usable is the top priority in this endeavor. Good luck
