Hello to everyone, new to the forum
We are a small micro Distillery factory, that works only with fresh seasonal fruits. In some of our clear products (Gin, Raspberry, Grappa) seem to appear in a rare pattern on the bottle after 1 week of bottling. With no rules to be deducted, not all batches have this, and if yes, then almost all the batch get these patterns but some of the bottles in the same batch stay clear without it.
We have sent the bottles to a lab for testing and this was their answer:
"The recovery of the precipitates and the disappearance of the observed spots or white spots rule out, to our knowledge, the degradation of the bottle glass as the cause of the problem reported by Jullius Craft Distilleryen. One of the main reasons for the appearance of cloudiness and precipitation in distilled beverages is the higher content of some ions (such as calcium and magnesium). These ions can react with pectins and tannins from fruit and/or plant infusions used in the manufacture of alcoholic beverages, forming insoluble compounds that precipitate as sediment (https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088 /1755-1315/640/6/062026/pdf) We have observed that the drink in question indicates 12 botanicals, which suggests that it may be a gin made from plants of different origins."
Anyone has encountered this effect on the bottles? Does anyone know how to fix this?
Help, suggestions much appreciated
Thank you Ivan Jullius Craft Distillery
