"Just make rasberry wine, and distill it.Use a least 3 pounds of berrys per gallon, and dont use campton or sulfates. It will taste better without them.
Use more berrys to flavor the booze, after you have ran it,and made your cuts.I usually use 18 pounds of berrys, and 10Lbs of sugar to start 6 gallons of wine.Ferment it for 7 days on the fruit, and rack it to a carboy after squeese out the fruit.{use a large straining bag and put all the fruit in it when you start.}I add another 5 Lbs of sugar in the secondary, after the sg has dropped to 1020.Let it finish to dryness, and rack it a few times to get it real clear. When you run it go slow, and collect in small amounts, and you will be able to tell what to keep, and what not to use,and will end up with some good brandy. It will lose alot of flavor when you run it but you can put 2 or 3 pounds of berrys in a large jar,add some sugar, and cover them with the brandy.Let it set for a few weeks, and use it to flavor up the rest of it.

"Unless I had a lot of berries, and nothing but idlle time to pick them, I would make a neutral, or better a sweet corn mash, or an oats base, with excellent cuts, than mascerate the fruit, coarsly filter, do a sugar extraction of the remaining spirits, more juices and flavors. Combine to taste.

Seems to me like you waste a lot of the fruit or berries, their flavors and taste, via distillation. If you make good cuts, headaches, hangovers, and then upset stomache. very llittle flavor will come through.

So perhaps, make a good base and draw out those flavors?

I will bow to more knowledgeable opinions on this."

"My grandma's:

in a mason jar (1qt) 3/4 full of clear
add a couple of handsfull of fresh red rasberries
put in back of closet 'till thanksgiving
strain and reserve berries (for ice cream topping) and add simple syrup to taste

I have a couple of jars just sitting in a cool dark spot right now...It's a killer cordial...tastes like summer!"
