Don, just a suggestion, try cooking at a lower temp. sometimes your product will taste better at a lower temp.

I have tried keeping the boiler at 180F and I end up turning down the burner more and more and hardly anything comes out...
I use a 6 foot activated carbon tower of 1 1/2' pvc with a 1 foot resivor of 3' pvc at the top. I use 3 coffee filters at the bottom held in place with a hose clamp. I end up with a very smooth taste. Without running it through the carbon, it taste terrible right from the get go.
