Scrubbers have more surface area and will give you a smaller height to a theoretical plate. The more thoretical plates you have will improve the purity of the alcohol. Sadles or rashig rings would be better then marbles. Good copper scrubers or the screen material that is now on the market is best. For a better discusion of this you should go to homedistiller.org

Of course if you are satisfied with what you are getting don't change just to change.

Everytime I hear the word scrubbers I shutter. ireally hope that people dont actuall use post scrubbers but are using this as a euphmism for copper mesh. scrubbers are very rarely pure copper and thus to get the best brewhaus is now carrying pure copper mesh that is a real deal. As for marbles i would say loose them !!!! haaaa the joes are endless
