"My turbo yeast died of old age - I bought a large amount and didn't get to use it much and it got old. A friend at a local ethanol plant told me that they get 15% alcohol in only two days. Even when my turbo yeast was new, it took 7 - 10 days to ferment close to completion. So, with turbo dead, I began experimenting with commercially available yeasts. I did a lot of experiments. And there is a commercially available yeast that will ferment to completion 18 lbs of sugar in two days. I'll post an email address after this post if anyone is interested in knowing what it is.

"I'm actually not a new member, but my old login ID and password didn't work, and even after I reset it, it wouldn't work.
email me at lyle89 gay.com if you're interested in knowing the readily available super-fast yeast.

"I sent Lyle an e-mail last Friday and got a reply back the following Saturday, this is what the reply was. ""The yeast is the Red Star Quick Rise but you also need the nutrients (the same nutrients that go into the turbo yeast). You can get the yeast at the grocery store and the nutrients (Distillers Yeast Nutrient with AG) at: http://www.moonshine-still.info/additives.htm The Red Star Quick Rise may produce more volitiles than the turbo yeast... I don't know... I was never impressed with the turbo yeast and it is expensive. What I do is run 6 or so batches, saving the distillate from the stripping runs, then combine them when I have 20 or so liters, and distill it another 3 times."" Hope this helps. TS"
