"I have an aluminum beer keg just screaming to be used as a distilling pot and I was wondering if it is ok to use it as one, or will the aluminum react with the distillate when being heated?

"It may well react in the wash in some ways, but the question is-will any Aluminum come through the distillate?

My answer would be ""No"", and my logic is that distilled water does not contain minerals,metals or salts. Maybe there are chemical reasons why alcoholic solutions in your still would behave differently, but I bet not..."

Are you positive it is aluminum, I have never seen an aluminum keg the ones I always see are SS."

"It looks aluminum and the weight feels lighter than a SS keg.
I'm wondering if anyone else is using the aluminum ones whithout any bad effects.
