I really dont know if either gizmos would accomplish much.

Hi Scotty,
I have to agree. I think having copper packing should be enough to eliminate the problem of channeling (channeling=condensate drips from the cooling cross tubes in the ps2 down the outer edges of the column) and distribute the condensate pretty evenly thru out the column. Still when I get my system (if the financial gods can stop kicking me in the balls long enogh to scrape up the cash) I may give the conical thing a try.
Thanks, Todd

"Ill bet that putting mesh in the conical would be good also.

The next idea will be the super PS3 with a column of 12 feet high. Special roof hole modification kit included. What say Rick???"

Hi Scotty,
Seems easy enough to do, you just make the boiler wider (larger diameter) instead of increasing the height. It would probably be a bit harder to heat.

Hi crausen,
What would be better is a 4 inch diameter 5 foot column. Something like that would tear thru a 10 gallon run in just a few hours. (** The illusive PS4 HC Rick?**:))

Hi Scotty,
In racing the engine shops have a saying "how fast do you want to go" as they hold out their hands for your cash. Speed costs but it is usually worth it. I think something like a "PS4 HC" with a parrot at the end of the product condenser in the $500 to $700 range would give both Hillbilly and Still Dragon a run for their money. Still it is nice to dream.

I'm gonna go off topic and laugh about racing shops. I had an 83 susuku that had 10K in the engine--I had it built by a florida outfit. All go no show. I really dont want the bigger rig for distilling. I just like trying a mod here and there on my 3 inch colums.

Hi Scotty,
69 chevelle that used to eat 5k motors about once every 4 weeks on the circle track, lucky we had a sponsor. Back on topic--Got to agree, the 3 inch is more than I'll ever need.

About the centering ring. Does anyone use one (or two)? If so did you buy it or fab it up yer self? I was looking at some copper funnels on amazon that could be cut to fit nicely but I don't know if its wasting cash or helping the mash!Cool
