I started my first sweet feed wash last night and its taken off great. The smells remind me of my malt wash so I'm really looking forward to tasting this stuff. Think I'll post my recipe and procedures in recipe section later when I got some more time.

My LME wash I did was about as active as this one. I've only done that one now the sweetfeed and cornmeal washes. The. Ornmeal work fine but just isn't as active as the malt or sweetfeed I've done. And I'll have it posted here soon Johnny

Different stroke I guess. I ran quite a bit of sweetfeed and never did get a rowdy active ferment. Now you want to watch one bubble like a witches cauldron..throw some wheat germ down in there. That stuff is skeery..and just in time for Halloween..lol.

I don't recal the amount of yeast but I'm an Okie and ain't afraid of yeast.......lol I tend to make damn sure I have enough as aposed to not enough. I live in Colo so temps here are a wee bit cooler then most places I've been so I always pitch my yeast and then add some for the gipper!!!!!! Do the same with my coffee......lol This time I do know that Iused about 3 oz of yeast with 13 lbs of sugar and 4 gal of h2o!!!!!!!

Fermentation had not stopped it was just going slower then I would have liked. Giving the vinergar senireo and the high ABV for bakers yeast I may have over reacted....lol Didn't know hadn't tried that high before. What it does mean is that instead of 5 gal's I now have 8 and its looking like it might be some goooooood stuff.....lol Thanks

Hey Fats..I had one vinegar smelling wash. It turned out surprisingly ok from what the nose might expect. Even had bit of a a sour mash twang to it..and as you know I am vociferously opposed to reusing dunder all over again yet another time. I dump it on weeds and grass to kill instead of Round Up. This works well for them without a keen sense of smell. Got to be more earth friendly than harmful chemicals. Who would want to be drinking that crap redundantly?

I sorta play it by ear depending on the currently available hooch supply. Last SF/Rye wash went 9 days and had settled out just about perfect. Current wash is cornmeal and wheat germ and its been perking 15 days..mainly because the larder is currently well stocked I havent been any rush to knock it on out. Maybe get to it tomorrow if the Lord's willing.
