Girl friend is bitching about the smell of my wash in the house. To ideas, one is to take paper towel roll and wrap a dryer sheet around one end and put over the air lock. Other is build some kind of small box and put a 60w light bulb in it and set it over the wash in the shed. Will either one of these work? Why or why not? Thanks for your help

who needs a girlfriend you got your own "still". all joking aside give her some of your very best spirit to drink that way she'll forget about the smell of the wash.

Got to agree with this. After 3 good drinks she won't care about the smell:) Seriously, my plan is to use some flex dryer vent hose and a computer type pancake fan set to exhaust thru a dryer vent to the out side

I was reading it on my phone while sitting I'm traffic and I saw your 1,2,3 thing at the bottom and thought you was getting on to me about my topic title. Then I went back and read the rules again and I saw it said no profanity and thought oh shoot. Just didn't want to disrespect anyone knowing I'm new on here and wanting to make friends.

Hey OC,
Your good here, no offense taken. I thought it was a good post with a valid concern and you got some good suggestions (in with the humor)

I can relate to your "problem" and don't think getting a new girlfriend will solve the problem. I had a similar problem last summer when I made room in the pantry (her domain) for my 3 5 gals carboys. She only became aware of the jugs and the aroma when I told her they were there but after a couple of days the smell melded into the normal smells and it wasn't a big deal. I think maybe she doesn't agree with your whole new hobby. Just saying that's how my wife reacted. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

I keep my mash in the basement and everything else in the garage. The mash tuns vent to the dryer vent. No smell, and the ol lady knows nothing about any of it.

What banning thing???????

About the subject of griping about it..... my wife just shakes her head when I start talking about it and says,""Well, just so you know, the kids and I will NOT be coming to visit you in prison!"" Then she smiles her little smile an I know she is actually alright with it. I think she just wants plausible deniability.....lol"

I've heard similar responses from my wife with good reason I suppose. But as I told her ""...if you don't tell anyone and I don't tell anyone (forum members excluded) the feds will have no reason to come around..."". And now, hopefully, the feds will have bigger fish to fry in Washington and Colorado where POT is now legal to buy openly."

I have a good friend that works in Lexington at the AAR center for the prison system...... maybe he can hook us up as cellies.....lol That way we won't be lonely since the wife won't visit. ;-)

To me that's what is so strangely interesting about this place. There's a (strong) possibility that some of the members are actually distilling alcohol and then openly sharing their methodologies, techniques and recipes with anyone who happens along. OhMyGod Apparently that doesn't significantly bother anyone?

Or is everyone here undercover BATF and I'm in deep shit???"

If it's legal to buy openly, why would they have bigger fish to fry there? Just curious.
