I just ordered another SSVR and a heat sink too. I'm dying to get this experiment completed-- Ill think of some heavier wiring so i can test it on 220 also

Scotty, Good deal, did you go with the same one on ebay... I'm still waiting on all my stuff. I ordered a fan yesterday. I read somewhere, something about using some kind of grease between the heat sink and the ssvr, you know anything about that....

There is some sort of silicone i think that transfers heat well. One of our guys will give both of us the name of it. I think i used something like that on another project and thats why i can not separate the heat sink that i already have from the SSR that is glued to it lol

Scotty,
I got my ssvr in the mail yesterday and I noticed that it came with a light green rubber type thing that looks to go between a heat sink and the ssvr, I also noticed this same thing in one of your pic's. Is this better to use than the special grease? Or do you know...

i have the same question Jack. My parts just came in today but the heat sink is not here yet. I wish someone knew the answer. It seems that it is a conductor of some sort but i am totally in the dark here.

Scotty,
I asked the question to the seller on ebay and here is his answer...
Dear sir:
Yes,you can use it between the SSR and heatsink.
Its function is same as "HeatSink Compound" to improve the contaction.

Oh yea, I'm still waiting on the meter to arrive then I can do a test or just put the whole thing together and then test it and hope for the best...

I just sent Chiang an email asking if there are uses for or can be used in conjunction with the SSVR. i really dont see what they could do except possibly turn the heat down or off but at what temp?? im lost. I use them now with my PIDs to switch voltages at specific temperatures. I'm scheming to use the pid/k sensor combo to construct a still tht will separate factions."

Hi Scotty,
All I want to do is heat up the boiler on 220v w/5500w element than turn it down when it reaches running temp. You aren't saying I need one of those K type thermo couples are you? Will what I am making run low enough on 220v or do I still need to cut it down to 110v when it gets to running temp? I am waiting on my amp/volt meter than I could test it my self but I also need to figure something to test it on...

not saying that jack.--- i'm just curious as to why so many folks purchased the k sensor also-- dont even think about this as being related to what we are trying to do. :)

Capt, i'm still waiting for my heat sink to be delivered. if it works, well i'll make it part of my automatic voltage change system. Then i wont need the (((RSC))). This will be a great thing for all the group if it works well. i have decided to test the device on a large 120 volt fan and my 120 volt heat gun. maybe ill put some water in my boiler and test the thing on the220 element--maybe.

Hey Scotty, yea I'm still waiting on my amp/volt meter, I just did a track on it and it arrived in Los Angles on the 5th so I should be getting it soon... I got a box and mounted and installed what I have so far into it and took a couple pic's and tried to post them up here and it said the file was to big and I can't figure out how to reduce them... any help from any body would much appreciated and I'll put them here...
