What all can u guys tell me about flaked grains. Do they have to be cooked before use. I thought they are steamed and then rolled so cooking is not required. Also if i was to use flaked maize, flaked oats and flaked barley do i still need to use yeast. All i have ran is sweet feed just looking to branch out a little bit. There are alot of grains out there just not sure what to use and what to stay away from

You're still going to have to mash that corn with some 2-row or 6-row barley. Yes, you still have to use yeast. Yeast are what consumes the sugars and creates the alcohol.

Flaked grains are normally already gelatinized, so you don't have to ""cook"" them. But as chris said, you still need to mash them otherwise you'll be left with just starches."
