Seems like everyone is taking it lightly that the Feds just seized your names and addresses! Good for you.

I'm curious Rick or other Admin: What format will the info be given in?

Who said I was taking it lightly ? - But at the same time I am realistic - They had me the day I enlisted and they took my fingerprints when I was young. They have me every year I pay taxes. They know when I bought guns (If you think that background check form went nowhere, ask why the state provides the format).

but no sense bein the tallest tree ... No sense living in fear because I bought something completely legal to posess in the state of Texas.

Rick, I purchased my equipment from you on April 24, 2010, which is 3 years and 1 month ago. What is the beginning date of the info you're sending in? Thanks

I picked my unit up at the warehouse. Would the date on my invoice be the date that the order was placed or the date that it was filled? I seem to be right on the line. Thanks.

The date that your order was completed, or 'shipped', will be the date that we must go by.

I understand that the shipping date is the one you have to use. What I'm wondering is whether the date that appears on my invoice is the shipping date or the date when I first placed the order. Thanks."

The date on your invoice is the order date.

Thanks for the tip, John. I made a purchase from HBS for a hot water heater tri-clamp adapter around the first of the year and also received a copy of that letter from them. I think it must have went out to everyone in their customer database.

Here's a few more comments on the TTB request from the HD site ...

A customer has started a petition to legalize hobby distilling. Unfortunately, the e-mail has disappeared on me before I was able to post it. If anyone has the link please post it and we can put it as a sticky for all that visit the forum.

Somebody on the HD forum late last year had actually set up a petition on the governments site. I think (and I could have the numbers wrong) you have 30 days to get 10000 signatures. If you do the government has to act on it. It only got 9 signatures mostly because people were afraid to sign. People have to understand that if you have a still and post to open forums (anyone can read the posts) like this one, HD, and AD that there is a good chance the government already knows and there is also a good chance that you are such a small player that they don't care. I think setting up a petition for home hobby distillers set up just like the beer and wine rules is a great idea and I will sign and support it. I enjoy our hobby and would love to see it legalized. Look how many great craft beers have come from home hobbiests. Despite all the crap that is going on with the government (prism?). This is still a free country and the people can get the rules changed. Pot is legal in 2 states now and Obama has stated on national tv that he will not waste federal resources going after people in a state that has legalized it. If they can legalize pot we should be able to get home hobby alcohol legal.

I think that it would be wise to get numerous opinions and ideas before launching a full-fledged attempt to legalize hobby distilling. Just throwing a petition together in the wake of the TTB's recent request will not likely succeed. We have a large, diverse group, and a lot of smart people on this forum. Gaining people's input and then properly putting together a viable proposal will have a much better chance of gaining traction. To that end we will add a section to the forum specfically for that purpose. Hopefully we can attract people from other forums, as well, such as HD, so that everyone works together toward a common goal and we can gain the numbers needed to be given proper attention.

Got my e-mail also. Thanks Rick. I am not so worried about myself in this whole deal but more about Rick and those at Brewhaus. I/We hope it does not effect you too adversely.
