Don't know if this is anything close, but a lot of the real ole timers used to brag: They would macerate sliced apples, a stick of cinnamon, a clove, some sugar until they had an apple pie taste to drink. The clove and cinnamin stick would be taken out after 24 hours or so by taste. After pouring off the drinking stuff, the fruit was turned over to the cooks, who added more apples for crispness and newer apple flavor, and pies, cobblers, turnovers were the best they ever tasted. I've made the drink, but I and family just ate the fruit. That will really sneak up on you. I also added a good bit of raisons. Thank you for reminding me, this is the perfect time of year to start some for Thanksgiviveing and Cristmas cordials. If you try this and it turns out any good please let me know."

I too have made this just as MtnWalker mentioned with the golden raisins and it was great, if you leave the cinnamon in longer you can also have a fireballs tasting drink. This stuff is great.
