Hi everyone,

I got my new still just came in:

shorturl

Is this considered a "Liquid Management" still or "Vapor Management" still?

Is it important to insulate the tower?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

On a pot still column insulation is not that important, but boiler insulation is. On a reflux run you will see a difference, especially with heat control, on windy or cold days. I have run both ways and find the full insulation decreases my boil times and increases my fine temp control. I believe this type of still is correctly identified as a cooling management style.

What material do you recommend for insulation?

The foil bubble wrap works well and easy to use. I use foil faced fiberglass insulation since I have it. Bit of overkill, but works great."

Thanks. Is the foil bubble wrap available at most hardware stores?

Yes, go to the insulation section, it's usually there - Reflectix is a brand name that I see at Home Depot
